37 year-old former Swiss WorldTour pro Marcel Wyss returned to the Black Forest of Germany this past weekend to defend his RiderMan title, hoping to make it three-in-a-row. From a field of almost 600 cyclists racing 237km over 3-days, Wyss once again stood on the top podium step as overall champion when the pedaling stopped.

Wyss (Thomus | WindowMaster by Wyss Training) won the opening 15km time trial, finished second in the 117km stage and closed out the event with a pack finish on the final 102km stage. His winning general classification time of 5:44:45 was twenty-two seconds ahead of Moritz Palm and 55 seconds up on Moritz Beinlich, both twentysomething year-old Germans on Team Strassacker.

39 year-old Alina Mylka, a 2x UCI Gran Fondo World Champion from Poland and teammate of Wyss, took top honors in the women’s race, finishing in 6:22:25, over nine minutes ahead of German Julia Arnegger and Jutta Steinen of Switzerland.

The annual gran fondo stage race hosted by the town of Bad Dürrheim will next take place on 6-8 September 2024.
