The final UCI Gran Fondo World Championship Series race took place on a rain-soaked route on the Isle of Man Sunday 23 July, with Tyler Hanney claiming his second Gran Fondo Isle of Man victory.

The 19 year-old racing for Team Saint Piran finished the lumpy 72km route, shortened from 137km for safety, in 1:48:11. Will Draper (1:48:12) and Kester McQueen (1:49:23) were next. Hanney last won the race in 2021 and has twice finished in second place, 2022 and 2022.

Pro Team DSM-Firmenich rider Becky Storey, 24, won the women’s race in 2:00:03, followed by junior category rider Sophie Smith (2:09:05) and Megan Chapple (2:09:06).

With cool temperatures, standing water, high winds and dense fog on the course, only 500 of over 1000 registered riders finished the final 2023 gran fondo world championship qualifying event. Riders scoring in the top 25% of their age/gender category qualified to participate in the UCI World Cycling Championships beginning 4 August in Perth, Scotland.
