The 42nd Ötztaler Radmarathon took place Sunday 9 July in Solden, Austria with 4500 lucky starters (from 19,000 lottery entries) rolling out at 06:30 on a mountainous 238km route along the Austrian-Italian border.
The German Janine Meyer, 45, set a new women’s course record, obliterating the old one set in 2016 by over 15 minutes. She reached the finish line back in Solden with a winning time of 7:27:47. Samantha Arnaudo (7:47:26) of Italy finished in second place, while last year’s champion Catherine Rossmann (8:00:12), also from Germany, took third.
In the men’s race it was former Giro d’Italia pro Manuel Senni, 31, who also soloed across the finish line to win in 6:49:18, almost three minutes ahead of former MTB World Champion Alban Lakata (6:51:59). 2021 Otztaler champion Johnny Hoogerland (6:53:13) came in third place.
“Last year, I took sixth place in my first start at the Ötztaler Radmarathon and my first victory today. It was an incredibly beautiful race with such a great atmosphere and many spectators,” Senni proclaimed from the podium. He is the fifteenth Italian to win the epic event.

The 43rd edition of Ötztaler Radmarathon will take place on Sunday 1 September 2024 in Sölden.
