For the second year in a row Italian Manuel Senni (TEAM CRAINOX) has won the classic Granfondo Sportful Dolomiti race, considered to be the hardest gran fondo in Europe, from a field of 3200 riders.

After attacking on final climb and racing down to the finish in Feltre, Italy, he completed the 204km epic Alpine event in 6:22:32. Less than a minute behind was Paolo Castelnovo (6:23:23), who improved upon his fourth place finish last year, and taking third place was Riccardo Michieletto (6:245:10).

“It was very hard this year. I used my strength in the climb of Croce d’Aune and recovered in the descent before arrival,” Senni said afterwards from the podium.

Maria Elena Palmisano (GARDA SCOTT MATERGIA) won the women’s race in 7:43:51, even though she was not feeling well. At one point she had a twenty minute lead, but struggled mightily in the final kilometers. Monila Dletl (7:44:27) almost caught Palmisano, but had to settle for second place. Sonia Passuti (7:57:14) was third.

Marco Provera (MG.K VIS-DAL COLLE-REARTU )won the 121km medio fondo in 3:46:22. Monica Trinca Colonel (GROSIO CICLISMO) did the same in the women’s category with a winning time of 4:16:05.

3100 cyclists from all over the world participated in the Sportful Dolomiti Race on one of two routes: A grand fondo 204km in length, including 5000m of altitude over four grand tour climbs (Cima Campo, Passo Manghen, Passo Rolle and Passo Croce d’Aune), and a 121km medio fondo with 3000m of altitude.
