At the 2023 USA Cycling Amateur Road National Championships on Thursday 15 June in Blue Ridge, Virginia, 15 year-old Enzo Hincapie (EF Education – ONTO) continued his winning ways, adding a second national junior road race title to his already impressive palmarès.

After winning the USA national road title from a large pack sprint in 2022, the son of former pro George Hincapie wasted no time this year on the 87km route and attacked early to form a two-man break with Brady Hogue (Landis/TREK). The power duo quickly distanced a large pack that spent more time watching each other than chasing. At the finish the gap was an impressive seven minutes.

In a tactical two-up sprint to be crowned 15-16 year-old USA road national champion, Hincapie was fastest and nipped Hogue to win the gold medal in 2:15:55. Soloing in for a well earned bronze medal was Harry Lasker two-minutes later.

Afterwards on Twitter Enzo posted, “Really really happy with back to back 1st place in the 15-16 #roadnats nothing better than putting in all the hard work and it paying off!”

One week earlier Enzo fine-tuned his national championship form by winning his dad’s 127km Hincapie Gran Fondo in Pennsylvania, defeating multiple UCI Gran Fondo World Champion Bruce
