Gran Fondo Ale la Merckx in Verona, Italy hosted 1500 cyclists for the 2023 UEC European Fondo Championships on Sunday 11 June, with 10 of 13 prized UEC champion’s jersey going to Italians who won their respective age/gender category on a 138 kilometers long route.

Italian Andrea Bais (Team Sildom Garda) won the overall gran fondo and was crowned UEC European Champion in the men’s 19-34 category with a finishing time of 3:49:25. Fellow Italian Maria Elena Palmisano won the women’s overall gran fondo, as well as the 35-39 UEC title, with a final time of 4:16:54.

Tomaz Cefuta (M35-39) and Giulia Medri (W19-34) won the overall 85km medio fondo UEC Championship race.
