Two weeks before Turkey hosts a 2023 UCI Gran Fondo World Championship qualifying race, 1159 cyclists from 13 countries used Veloturk Gran Fondo Çeşme as a final opportunity to fine-tune their form.

In the 110 kilometers long gran fondo that started and finished in Cesme, Gökhan Uzuntaş (Bisan Factory Racing) won with a final time of 3:08:17, defeating Muhammet Eyüp Karagobek (3:08:18) in a two-up sprint. Kagan Yavuz finished third in 3:08:30.

In the women’s race it was Ozge Uzun (341 Triatlon) handily taking the winner’s trophy with a time of 3:21:26. Neriman Neyran Elden Koskar (3:30:59) and Sevcan Alper (3:41:26) earned second and third.

Ediz Ateş won the 63km Toyota Hybrid Track medio fondo in 1:45:51, with Meltem Kılıç (1:58:28) the winner in the women’s category.

Up next is UCI Gran Fondo Antayla on 20 November in Antayla, Turkey, where amateur cyclists have the opportunity to qualify for the 2023 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships taking place in Glasgow, Scotland UK next August.
