The Tour de France amateur L’Étape Madrid gran fondo race cancelled at the last minute for 2000 riders in July has now been rescheduled for Sunday 30 October in Villanueva del Pardillo, Spain.
The local organizer says they now have all of the proper permits in place to hold the 162 kilometer amateur race with almost 3000 meters of vertical ascent, promising the disastrous circumstances that left registered riders stranded on the start line in July will not be repeated.

L’Etape tentatively targeted 11 September to hold a rescheduled Madrid race, but that was ruled out by local authorities due to conflicts with the last grand tour La Vuelta stage, between Las Rozas and Madrid.

Thus, two L’Etape races will now occur on consecutive weekends in Spain. L’Étape Granada will take place on 23 October, with L’Etape Madrid taking place one week later on the 30th.
It looks like a perfect opportunity to enjoy a wonderful end-of-season cycling week in Spain with very challenging bookend L’Etape events.
