Ineos Grenadiers pro Jonathan Narváez planned to ride the 7th edition of the Gran Fondo Érick Bike for training, but under a persistent cold drizzle on 30 January 2022 he changed his mind and sprinted to victory.

In a field of over 200 riders from Ecuador and Venezuala, the grand tour stage winner outsprinted a large pack on a wet Yahuarcocha International race track in Imbabura, Ecuador after 101 kilometres of racing.  

Second place went to Cristian Pita (Banco Guayaquil-Ecuador)with Elvis Cotacachi (Sin Fronteras) taking third.

Natalia Vásquez Amaya won the women’s category with Karla Castillo and Heidy Flores finishing second and third respectively.

Narváez was back in his home country fine tuning his form for the start of the 2022 European professional season at Vuelta a Andalucía on 16 February.
