Online registration for the Ötztaler Cycle Marathon lottery opens 01 February and close 28 February 2022, with the random drawing of 4,000 starting bibs taking place in early March.

The 2022 event starts and finishes in Sölden, Austria on Sunday 08 August.

Since 1982 the legendary event in the Tyrolean Alps is considered a “must do bucketride” by gran fondo cyclists, who praise it as the hardest and most beautiful amateur cycling event in Europe.

With well over 15,000 applicants each year wanting to ride the 227 kilometre route with 5,500 metres of climbing, starting bibs have been limited to 4,000 since 2005.

After starting in Sölden at sunrise, the route tackles four high Alpine passes (Kühtai, Brenner, Jaufen Pass, Timmelsjoch), seven different valleys and three climate zones (Ötztal glacier region, Tirolean lower mountain ranges and South Tirolean vineyards).
