On Sunday Matteo Cigala (DAN MORRISEY) earned his second classics victory in a month at the 111 kilometre Il Lombardia Gran Fondo in Cantrù, Italy.  The Italian, now living in Ireland, finished with a time of 3:04:40, just weeks after winning the legendary mixed surface 87 kilometre Strade Bianchi fondo in Tuscany.

Paolo Castelnovo (ASD TEAM MP FILTRI) was next at 3:04:43 and Rossano Mauti (ASD CICLCI ROSSI) completed the podium one second later at 3:04:44.

In the Women’s race, victory went to the German Christina Rausch (CARINA-BRAO CAFFE’) with a final time of 3:22:32, with Samantha Arnaudo (OM.CC) second at 3:26:55 and Luise Valentin third in 3:28:54.

Over 1700 riders participated in the autumn classic race around beautiful Lake Como, where the amateur field split up significantly on a route that included the famous Giro d’Italia climbs of Muro di Sormano and Madonna del Ghisallo.
