After being coronavirus cancelled twice this year, the organiser of the UCI Gran Fondo Moscow world championship qualifying race announced the event will roll-out this weekend on a new pandemic safe course in the South-West region of Moscow.

“Since Moscow still has no opportunity to hold the planned starts of the UCI Gran Fondo World Series qualifying competitions, the events are [now] scheduled for August 15 in the vicinity of the city Vereya,”    UCI Gran Fondo Moscow posted on social media.

On Sunday 15 August riders will race on a 118 kilometre shark-tooth loop with 972 metres of climbing and virtually no flat sections.  Riders finishing in the top 25% of their age group qualify to compete in the 2021 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships planned for 10 October in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina.
