The 17th edition of the world’s largest hillclimb event took place 6 June on Mt. Fuji in Japan with 4726 cyclists at the start line in Fujiyoshida City.

Takato Ikeda (ZWC) set a new Mt. Fuji Hillclimb course record for the 25 kilometre 1243 vertical metre race of 56 minutes and 21 seconds in very difficult snowy, cold and rainy conditions. Second place went to Kato Daiki 57:52 with Itako Yuji third at 58:27.

Ikeda is no stranger to cycling success as a top Zwift Racing League competitor and a finalist for the 2021 e-Movistar professional virtual cycling team.

In the Women’s race Michimiki Miwako narrowly climbed to victory in 1:13:41 just in front of Ishii Yoshiko at 1:13:42. Sano Ayumu was next at 1:14:52.
