The association l’Ardéchoise Cyclo Promotion, has just announced the cancellation of its 2021 edition on 19 June, a decision taken during the meeting of its steering committee on Friday.

The choice of this decision was taken after a long collegial reflection of all the leaders. The health crisis and its dramatic consequences once again got the better of the most beautiful cycling events of the spring and of course our superb Ardéchoise which we believed to be imperishable. User-friendliness, the heart of our concept, has taken a serious hit. However, we must accept the delicate balance between the necessary caution that must be ours, in the face of a virus that continues to circulate and confidence in a better future.

Already canceled in 2020, the Ardéchoise is the largest mountain road cyclosportive event in Europe, which annually brings together nearly 15,000 cyclists and 7,000 volunteers to the Alpine village of Saint-Félicien in Southern France.

This year would have been the 29th edition, which over 2100 participants had already signed up to attend. On the announcement many voiced their support and disappointment via social media:

A wise decision, but also a big disappointment, we meet again in 2022!

Really shame but I think it was a decision without too many other possibilities😩
Looking forward to 2022 🤞
