Guaranteed to be the “biggest cycling event in Poland,” a UCI Gran Fondo World Series race is coming to Warsaw 2-4 July 2021 according to a press release from the organiser.

“The legendary cycling events of UCI Gran Fondo World Series will come to Mazovia to commemorate the Warsaw Battle of 1920 with cyclists racing around Warsaw on July 2-3-4 as part of the Battle of Warsaw Tour event.”

The Grand Fondo UCI Tour Battle of Warsaw has yet to be added to the UCI Gran Fondo World Series website, but is being organised by Dariusz Banaszek – founder of the Mazovia Heart of Poland Team, in collaboration with Grzegorz Golonko – who won the Men’s 40-44 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in 2019.

Races of three distances will be offered for amateurs on Sunday – 166km Gran Fondo, 93km Medio Fondo and 46km Adventure. Additionally, an individual time trial of 20km will be contested on Saturday.

Riders finishing in the top 20% of their age group will qualify for the 2021 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships taking place next September in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
