Puerto Vallarta, Mexico hosted the 3rd edition of the Cicloruta Vallarta-Sayulita gran fondo on 6 February.

With a scheduled start before sunrise to beat oppressive heat and humidity alongside the Pacific Ocean, 199 amateur cyclists lined up in the dark to ride 110km or 55km routes.

In the Women’s events, Maryan Valdez dominated the 110km race, completing the route in 3:49:32 with 14 minute lead, while Maria Susana Esparza Padilla finished first in the 55km race with a total time of 2:14:04.

For the Men, Francisco Gerardo Hidrogo Benitez won the 110km race  with a time of 3:43:30 after dropping three breakaway companions and distancing 94 other competitors.

Jorge Enrique Sandoval Vargas crossed the finish line first in the 55km race, almost 5 minutes in front Juan Pablo Maldonado Moreno who finished in second place.
