Argentinian Gabriel Raff soloed to victory at the eighth edition of Gran Fondo Siete Lagos on Sunday 6 December. He completed the 110 kilometre amateur race in 2:49:11 with an advantage of 2:31 over a large chasing peloton.
Raff is best known for a using the banned performance enhancing susbstance EPO at the 2019 GFNY World Championship gran fondo race in New York City. He finished 25th, but was later disqualified and banned for life from GFNY’s worldwide gran fondo series.

Finishing behind Raff at Gran Fondo Siete Lagos in second place was Maximiliano Roly Navarrete, with Enrique Estevez third, both with a time of 2:51:42.
In the Women’ race, Chubut Fiorella Malaspina outsprinted breakaway companion Sofía Martelli to claim victory in 3:21:03. Yanina Balatti finished in 3:22:30 to take the third and final step on the podium.
Gran Fondo Siete Lagos in Argentina is known as one of the most beautiful cycling events in South America. This year on Sunday 6 December over 800 participants rode the point-to-point course in the Patagonia region of Argentina from San Martín de Los Andes to Villa La Angostura.
