Just one week after announcing a massive plan to test 8000 riders for coronavirus, the 11th Mallorca 312 gran fondo rescheduled for 10 October has been cancelled.

A short announcement on social media from the organizer, Milestone Series, ended any hope of the 2020 event happening.

“Despite the great efforts carried out by the Organization in the last months, we regret to inform you that the Mallorca 312 has been canceled by force majeure,”@Mallorca312.

It is the second time this year the on-off-on-off race has cancelled. Originally scheduled for April, the event was cancelled, rescheduled to October and now quashed for certain.

Trying to test all 8000 registered riders for coronavirus ahead of the event proved to big a hurdle for Milestone Series and the Spanish government.

As announced with the first cancellation in April, “all registrations have the right to a refund of the total fee, so participants can register without fearing a possible cancelation.”
