After being postponed from 1 May due to the coronavirus pandemic, Gran Fondo Luca Avesani rolled out from historic Piazza Bra in Verona, Italy on 6 September to race through the surrounding territories, primarily Valpolicella, renowned for wine.
Participation was limited to 300 cyclists and the event had been sold out for months with many Italian riders eager to restart gran fondo racing.
After a six months pandemic pause Vincenzo Pisani dominated the race, soloing to victory in 2:25:24. It was his third victory in as many weeks as he also won GFNY Vaujany Alps and the Valleverde Trophy in Piediripa di Macerata.
