The Amstel Gold Race organizer has decided to reschedule the amateur Tour Amstel Gold, which traditionally takes place the day before the pro race, to 2021 for 15,000 cyclists registered for this year’s event.

The Pro edition of the Amstel Gold Race and the Amstel Gold Race Ladies Edition will be held on Saturday 10 October 2020 without spectators, many who usually ride the Tour event.  The organizer asks amateurs to enjoy an Amstel beer while watching the races at home and not to travel to Limburg, Netherlands.

“A little less than two months before the Tour of the Amstel Gold Race we have to conclude that a gran fondo with 15.000 participants is not feasible and are moving the event to 17 April 2021.

Amstel Gold Race and Amstel Gold Race Ladies Edition on Saturday 10 October 2020 will be without spectators, but we are working together with the NOS (the Dutch television broadcasting organisation) to extend the live coverage of the Amstel Gold Race on television, so people can enjoy the full race at home”, says Leo van Vliet, course director of the Amstel Gold Race.

The registered participants of the Amstel Gold Race Tour may transfer their entry to 2021 or get a refund of the entry fee.
