166 solo cyclists and 64 two rider teams started at 04:00 in the dark Friday 3 July to time trial race from Bern to Andermatt, Switzerland at the first Chasing Cancellara gran fondo event of 2020.

From the start and through every checkpoint it was ex-professional Marcel Wyss who clocked the fastest time, finishing the 197km solo race with 5500m of elevation  gain, including Grimselpass, Nufenenpass and Gothardpass, in 06:49:20.

Another ex-pro, Raphaël Addy, was next, barely a minute behind at 06:50:34.    Maxime Galletti at 07:04:07 rounded out the men’s solo podium.

Alina Mylka from Poland won the women’s solo race in 08:31:59, followed closely by Claudia Sutter (08:36:16) and Andrea Rosch (08:39:25).

In the two-rider team competition it was the WOO Nutrition duo of Sascha Hosennhen and Simon Ruff who earned the win with a time of 07:50:00.  Second place went to the Greek team AS ALFA Kallitheas (Georgios Boutopolous and Ionnis Vorrias) with a time of 8:29:28 and the always entertaining Swiss Velosophe Cycling Brigade (Johann Ferre and Virginie Perizzolo) finished third at 08:43:26.

Fabian Cancellara with teammate Philipp Ramseyer (Team Chasing Cancellara) finished 15th in the team competition with a time of 09:24:33.
