After it was confirmed this week that La Indurain gran fondo will take place 18 July in Spain under a new Covid-19 Free health protocol, riders raced to register and get one of the 1000 available bibs.

Pent-up demand was tremendous after a long Spanish COVID-19 quarantine and the race is now close to being sold-out in just a few days.

The namesake event for five time Tour de France champion Miguel Indurain will cover 180km with 3133 vertical meters of climbing in the Pamplona region.  Riders will ride solo or in pairs, never following closer than 10m.  As always, Indurain will participate and ride the complete route while cheering on riders.

New COVID-19 Free health protocols develop with the Spanish Cycling Federation and WHO will be used to help keep the event safe. Bibs will be mail to participants rather than picked up at the event.  The start will be in waves with 5 minutes between groups.  Riders entering start and finish areas will be required to wear masks and maintain 2m of social distancing.

Some tradition services will be eliminated including showers, post race food, award ceremonies, vendor product fair, massages, sign-in and photo/autograph sessions with Miguel Indurain.
