After months of rumored cancellation due to COVID-19, A.S.O. has finally confirmed to Gran Fondo Daily News the Étape du Tour de France gran fondo race for amateur cyclists will take place 6 September in Nice during the 2020 Tour de France.
Étape du Tour will follow the same route as the second stage of the professional Tour de France, starting and finishing in Nice. Participants will race over a 177km course along the Mediterranean Sea and climb 3570 meters in the Alpes Maritimes range.
The sold out event has over 15,000 riders signed up, but any rider who is unable to make the new September date can move their bib to the 2021 edition, another A.S.O. gran fondo or wait till 2022 for a refund.
