Gran Fondo Banjaluka in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 3 October 2020 will be the first UCI Gran Fondo World Series race to qualify riders for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships also taking place in Banjaluka in September 2021.

The October race will allow riders to preview the 2021 World Championship course and also qualify for the World Championships if they finish in the top 20% of their age group.

With the 2020 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships now cancelled due to COVID-19, amateur cyclists from across the globe are re-setting their sights and training on 2021.

The UCI has yet to release the full schedule of 2021 Gran Fondo World Series events, which allow riders to qualify for the World Championships.
