On Sunday 8 March Belgian riders tried to shake out their winter legs at the Ename Classic and prepare for upcoming cobbled Flemish events, little did they know Ename would be the last Belgian event this Spring due to coronavirus.
Although only including a few cobbles, the Ename Classic offers plenty of climbing, 1558 meters, over 14 punchy climbs. Climbs with classic Belgian-berg names worthy of repeating back home to impress riding partners – Korteberg, Petegemberg, Elverenberg and Waesberg.
Like all cycling events in Belgium, the Ename Classic included free beer – Ename Abbey Pater – to aid recovery!
With all the cobbled classic rides in Flanders now cancelled, we’ve pulled together the best Ename Classic photos to help you ride a Belgian Spring Classic vicariously. Enjoy!
