Riders at the Australian National Gran Fondo Championships in Buninyong, along with Cycling Australia, are contributing to the national bushfire disaster relief effort via Saturday’s National Gran Fondo Championship race.

For every gran fondo rider entered Cycling Australia will donate $5 to the Bendigo Bank National Bushfire Disaster Appeal.

So far that amounts to more than $2500 with 524 gran fondo riders already registered.  Riders may register the day of the event, no racing license is requited and it is open to all cyclists.

100% of donated funds will go to communities and individuals devastated by bushfires across Australia, with donors able to direct funds to specific areas.

The National Gran Fondo Championship will be held on the iconic Mt. Buninyong course with roads completely closed, just like the elite road race championships on Sunday.
