L’Etape organizers announced their hallmark 2020 L’Etape du Tour gran fondo event in Nice, France on July 5 will also be the L’Etape Championship.
Just like at the Tour de France, every rider participating in the event is eligible to win a championship “maillot jaune” – yellow jersey. The following male and female age categories will be awarded jerseys : 18-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+.
L’Etape Champions will be determined using real ride time (or net time). Net time is the time from when you cross the start line to the finish line. So it does not matter in which wave you start the gran fondo race.
Since L’Etape du Tour is sold out, organizers have set aside 150 slots for riders who finished in the top 20% of their age group at worldwide 2019 L’Etape events. To see of you are on this “pre-qualifed” list and eligible to register for the 2020 L’Etape du Tour Championship race check here.
The 30th edition of L’Etape du Tour will race over a very difficult 177km Tour de France stage route along the Cote d’Azure seaside, before heading up into the Southern Alps and finishing back in Nice.
