Advertised as “The World’s Fastest Gran Fondo,” after 7 years the USA’s Rollfast Gran Fondo will roll no more.
In a statement Rollfast founder Matt Tanner said “With much thoughtfulness, we have decided to discontinue the Rollfast Gran Fondo. We would like to extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to the thousands of riders, hundreds of volunteers and dozens of partners that have helped make the Fondo an exciting addition to the Rollfast portfolio.”
The event has been part of a struggling Gran Fondo World Tour series and on September 15 hosted the Tour’s 2019 World Championships. Although both the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships and GFNY World Championships attract 2500 riders each year, Rollfast only managed 300 after a prominent online advertising campaign.
Going forward Rollfast will continue its Rollfast Cycling Club and host cycling camps in the USA and abroad.
