14 time Austrian National MTB Champion and 2-time Olympian Christoph Soukup showcased his road racing skills at the Oktoberfest VeloRun Baden Cycling Marathon in Baden, Austria.

On a beautiful Oktoberfest day with plenty of sunshine, the 39-year old finished the 85.3km race just south of Vienna in 2:11:19. Two “kids”, 23 year-old Martin Rauscher (AUT) and 25-year old Marco Prillinger (AUT) finished 1 minute 29 seconds behind Soukup.
Fastest women was Agnes Kittel (AUT) at 2:16:20, with Tina Berg-Shiver 2nd and Pia-Maria Thoma 3rd.

Over 600 races lined up at the start to ride through the Helenental Vienna Woods region of Austria. The route passes ancient castles, dense forests and alongside peaceful rivers cutting through the Northern Limestone Alps. Of course, afterwards riders enjoyed a beer (or two) and took advantage of world famous Baden thermal spas to sooth tired muscles.
