Due to last minute safety and security issues, one of the newest UCI Gran Fondo World Series events, Gran Fondo Costa Rica CRC 506, has been rescheduled to November 9, 2019.
The event was originally scheduled for Saturday, September 28, but roads through which the race will travel are unsafe for cyclists and need to repaired by the corresponding authorities.
So far, the only change to the event is the date. The UCI Gran Fondo World Championship qualifying race will start in Puerto Limón and finish in high in the mountains at Tucurrique, for a total of 122km.
Riders finishing in the first 20% of each age category will automatically qualify for the 2020 World Championships to be held in Vancouver, Canada.
