2019 just might be a record breaking year for amateur doping.
NADO Italia has suspended yet another gran fondo rider, Devis Cinni, after he tested positive for the substance Recombinant Erythropoietin (EPO) following an out of competition test carried out in Misano Adriatico, Italy on June 14, 2019.

On June 9th at Granfondo del Capitano, Cinni finished 17th overall and 4th in the 45-49 age group.
His ASD Frecce Rosse Cycling Team president quickly issued an official statement (translated) that “immediately dissociates himself and distances himself from what happened to his athlete[Cinni]. Having as fundamental values honesty and fairness in any sports field and of life in general, the team does not accept compromises or situations related to doping concerning any of its members, and absolutely is disgraced by what happened.”
It seems Cinni also has ties to racing in the United States where his name is listed in 2014 results for the R5Ciclismo Racing Team in Southern California. Road-results.com also shows his name as racing at the Redlands Bicycle Classic and Sea Otter Classic that year, earning top-10 results.
An appeal has been filed by Cinni with NADA Italia and a hearing is scheduled.
