Cheaha Challenge Gran Fondo Alabama, May 19, $85. UCI Gran Fondo Worlds qualifier, toughest ride in the South at 100 miles with 9400′ climbing & Southern humidity, great support and organization, low cost lodging and part of the Alabama Backroads Series.

Gran Fondo Alleghany Virginia, July 20, $65. In Virginia’s beautiful Alleghany Highlands this event includes 103miles, 10800′ climbing, full course timing/results, neutral technical support, aid stations, and delicious post-ride vittles and drink.

Tour de Donut Ohio, August 24 $40. Competitive Fun is the only way to describe this event. Mass start 62 flatish timed miles where riders have the option of earning Donut Time Bonuses at donut stops. Stop and eat a donut, get 5-minutes deducted from your finish time. You might just gain weight and win too.

Gran Fondo De La Jacques Cartier Quebec, September 15, $75USD. The least expensive way to experience a true French gran fondo is to head north of the boarder to Quebec. The folks at Granfondo Eco offer rural 77 mile route with 5400′ climbing and, if you’re lucky, a few authentic French croissants.

Spin the District Union City Road Gran Fondo Atlanta, September 22, $50. A great way to end the season on smooth as a Georgia peach asphalt. 105 miles, 5800′ climbing, all up or down – no flat sections. Southern BBQ, sweet tea (is their any other kind in Georgia) and a WWE worthy bad ass championship belt (if you win) waiting at the finish.
