Hincapie Chattanooga Gran Fondo started in heavy rain Saturday morning as the southern USA continued to experience a very wet spring.

Nonetheless, 165 dedicated and determined riders, including former professional riders George Hincapie and Bobby Julich, sloshed their way around the 80-mile course to finish the epic event and earn a rust-proof finishers medal.

Conditions were so bad, almost half of the field either didn’t start or abandoned, earning those who finished a well deserved “Hardcore Hincapie Rider” label.
